Late Bloomer

15 Days Remain

If you're a Facebook friend of mine, you might have noticed all the old pictures my sister has been posting of me.  Boy, I was a goofball! Giant hair and total lack of confidence.

All of us remember people from high school that seem to have everything going for them.  Everyone expected them to be super successful often times because they were popular.  I'm quite certain no one was expecting this of me.  I had no idea what to do with my life.  Some days, I still don't.

Today, I found myself wondering why I've always been such a late bloomer.  I've always envied those that are doing what they want in their youth. Maybe I needed all these experiences to get to where I want.  This is one part of my life I don't have a lot of insight.

However, I DO know that there are plenty of awesome people who got a late start.  Many of whom I admire greatly.  Here are a few late bloomers:

Julia Child didn't learn to cook until 40, then was 50 when she published her first cookbook.

Vera Wang started designing wedding dresses at age 40!!

Colonel Sanders, while I am not a fan of fried chicken, started promoting his secret recipes at age 66.

Grandma Moses was 75 when she started painting.  Almost twice my age!  Boom!

Laura Ingalls Wilder was in her 40's when she started working as a columnist and 60 when her books were published.  This one is a huge inspiration!!

It turns out that many of the people I thought were going to be so great, really ended up pretty average.  Yes, shamefully, I do take some pleasure in that.  But I take more pleasure in knowing that I might still make it in this world.  :)

Kindness of the Day:  I cleaned up the waiting room at the Dr.'s office.....again.  People love this.
