Time Well Spent

Time Well Spent

Day 5 of my 40 day kindness tour. What a delightful experience!!! I've decided to hold off on any grand gesture of kindness (like gifts of cash or taking a bullet for someone) and focus on small acts to create consistency and form habits.

I've given compliments, looked strangers in the eyes and smiled, put change in parking meters, delivered flowers, held doors, and let people know I liked them.  By far, today's experience has been my favorite.  TIME. The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Not always easy to come by, but worth the effort.

Nearly 6 years ago I met my good buddy Bob.  I remember exactly where I was when he called me asking if I'd be interested in hosting a Sunday morning talk show on KCWI.   Who me? Yes!  This guy took a chance on the new kid, opened up some doors, and basically changed my life and the way I saw myself.  (Plus he was one cool cat, always starting his emails with "Hey, Dollface!" So "Madmen" style!)

A few years ago Bob and his wife moved to Costa Rica and I hadn't talked to him since then. Today, they returned for a little get-together thrown by his son, Brad.  So I showed up without telling him.  The surprise on his face was worth every bit of my time. He said I made his day...no week...no month.

No Bob, you made mine.  High-5, buddy!
