As a tribute to my "youthfulness" my sister posted a fantastic picture of me, wishing her cute little sister an amazing trip to 40. She chose the very best and I could not be more grateful. How sweet is that?! Truly. I've always been proud of it, especially the photographer's mastery and the sheer miracle it took to produce the image.
I did however, experience some other emotions when I saw the picture....Like fear. The fear of being "found-out"! Oh, the fraudulence!! I've lied to the masses! Sure, I was a little younger, slimmer, and cuter when it was taken, but I've never actually looked like that. NEVER! Yet, I hang on to that image as if it were the truth. As if I were even the same person I was 4 years ago. (Way cooler now...;))
So today, my goal is to feel good about the real me. The one that I have very few pictures of on Facebook. The one who will now skip over the TV guide channels with titles like, "Don't Let Your Neck Reveal Your Age", "Slim Your Belly Without Dieting", and "Fat Girl Slim, Lean Machine". Yeah, I'll be recycling all the AARP mail that has mistakenly come my way too. Watch me!
Today my kindness has been to compliment others. To let someone else know that they rock just as they are. When they LEAST expect it!
AND....For your viewing pleasure.....a few "Real Me" pictures.
Me: Bottom left with short curly hair. Sister: Top Right
Side note: Dad would still wear that shirt if someone hadn't tossed it.
With my friend Jim at the Urban Assault Bike Ride. I will post this photo as much as I can because we look both cool and fierce at the same time.
Me and my main squeeze, Ryan, biking on our Birthday trip.
No makeup and he continues to call me. Meow!
"The Photo"
Yes, hot. Yes, I love it. No, this doesn't happen regularly. Or ever. ;)
Love you little chubby, curly-headed girl in the first picture and all of you in between.
Go be you, my friends!
Amen to that sister! Your beauty has never come from the outside but bursts forth from within and touches anyone you come in contact with. Embrace every stage and every ugly shirt and other questionable fashion of relatives. It is the joy of life!
